The Good Wine Guru – Wine Reviews and Advice

George, The Good Wine Guru The first time I tried them out was a few weeks ago when my wife was out of town. I opened a bottle, and wanting to be able to tell her I was responsible and didn’t drink the entire thing by myself in one sitting, I pulled out one of the Wine Shields and proceeded to insert it into the bottle after pouring myself a glass. The second time I tried this was last night with a bottle of wine, and I can say that I got the Wine Shield in much better this time, so clearly the learning curve on these things is short, and I think if I used one every night I would...

Cellarblog Review

Kristen (VA Wine Woogie), Cellarblog.org After 4 days, I got the 2 bottles and Platypreserve out and poured a glass from each. The wine from the corked bottle with no WineShield was slightly darker than the other two, and had a more oaky nose to it. Upon tasting, it was clear that the oxygen had affected it slightly, but it was still drinkable. I then tried the glass from the Platypreserve and determined that it would be a great product for going camping if you’re going to drink the wine within a day or two, but it definitely did not keep the wine fresh for 4 days. The wine...

WINELINES ONLINE

Glen Frederiksen International Wine Competition judge and organizer Wine Lines Online is an extension of the syndicated Wine Lines column, written by Bob Johnson and featuring an array of wine reviews by Johnson and Glen Frederiksen. Well, in my house (especially during a party), the bottle will be a Dead Soldier in 15 minutes or less…But that is not the topic at hand. The question is: Once a bottle of wine is opened, how long can you keep it re-corked and in the fridge and still enjoy the vino therein? Wine has several enemies (other than bad winemakers). Oxygen. Light. Time....

NOSNOB.COM

Publisher, Nosnob.com This blog is the result of a couple of guys who love wine and work in technology. Nosnob.com has been created for everyone who likes or has even the slightest interest in wine. Unlike traditional wine sites, nosnob.com will only review bottles of wine which cost less than $20.00. We feel that wine should be enjoyed by everybody, and we know from experience that the price tag doesn’t always equal enjoyment. We’re frequently asked: “What’s the best way to save half a bottle of wine?” Using a special gas that wine bars use is obviously out of the...

Vera Wine Club

Publisher, Verawineclub.com I LOVE VINO is all about great wines, wine personalities… and my favorite recipes with wine pairings So I was excited to get the opportunity to try something totally knew, a system called Wine Shield. The company claims that this is the “Ultimate preserver that keeps wine fresh to the last glass”. That’s pretty gutsy claim to make. All I saw was a little box with a single pockets about twice the size of regular tea bag. Is that it? And that’s supposed to do the job? When I read about it up front, I learned that the Wine...

Pull that Cork

Publisher, Pullthatcork.com Welcome to Nancy and Pete’s notes and views on wine and how it can make your life more fun. I opened a bottle of a fairly nice Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, one I knew well. We had about 2/3 of the bottle and I put in the Wine Shield. The next evening we had another couple of glass, it was still very good. There was only about one serving left in the bottle so I decided to leave it for a third day. On the third evening I had that final glass. The wine was surprisingly good still. It appeared the Wine Shield worked pretty good. From previous experience I...
